Team Tactics – Chameleon Disguise Tips & Tricks (updated) – Jay Solomon

Majestix - Team List

With another season of WKOs arriving and several sets having been released between my first Chameleon disguises article (which is here), I decided that an update would be good to publish before most WKOs take place for players who are running Chameleon, especially since Doctor Octopus is a strong play, and synergy with him will be the focus of this article.

Fugitoid is another recent addition to the growing ranks of great taxis, which in the case of the Sinister Syndicate, carries around Doctor Octopus. While Overdrive shares the Sinister Syndicate keyword with Doctor Octopus, Fugitoid has some things that can make him differently good. His Stealth and longer dial will keep him alive, on top of his Regeneration. He also has Phasing/Teleport instead of Charged Up’s being a vehicle, which can help with maps with elevated/blocking terrain, as well as being able to get around opposing characters gaining Lust from Plasticity, or choosing it in Jakeem Thunder’s case. I also like that Fugitoid has Outwit on click 2, so you can take the power action with Chameleon to turn into Fugitoid, carry turn 2 and choose to push Fugitoid onto his surprise Outwit.

Another taxi option, offering her Probability control to make sure that your Doc Ock alpha strike will hit. She also has Phasing, which gives her an advantage over Overdrive. She can also attack somewhat well, especially if given the Envy relic.

Like WF FF Nightwing, Looker is a cheap user of the Outsiders team ability, which reads:

Give a character using the Outsiders team ability a free action to choose a character (including itself) within 10 squares and line of fire. Until the beginning of your next turn, the chosen character’s combat values can’t be modified. Uncopyable.

In this age of Pandora’s Box and Krang, being able to turn off opposing modifiers is important. Looker also offers Mind Control with a respectable 11-Attack, which can combine well with her Outsiders to ensure that she’ll hit.

In my first Chameleon article, I recommended using SFSM Cloak for the 18-Defend, since Doc Ock is defensively weak. The Penguin does that plus some, with his Penguins offering secondary attackers for a very low cost.

The Riddler is a non-prime alternative option to use instead of Peggy Carter, with the additional benefit of having his own Outwit on top of the can’t use powers trait. His main flaw is that he needs line of fire for his trait, but if you don’t anticipate seeing much Stealth, he may be worth using, to open up your prime slot.

This Green Lantern synergizes quite well with Doctor Octopus. Shutting off Stealth works well with Doc Ock having Outwit, and the -1 defense modifier will make sure that more of your attacks will hit. He can also attack decently well for the points, with his 10-attack, 3-damage, and 7-range.
