Majestix - Team List

Hello and welcome to another iteration of “Why Don’t I Play This Piece?”. This week, I will be going over a recent What If version of the very popular Spider-Man, Peter the Hunter.

Peter the Hunter has 3 traits:

ENSLAVED KRAVEN FAMILY: At the beginning of the game, place the 4 bystanders listed on this card into your starting area. These bystanders can use the Carry ability this game, but only to carry each other. The first non-free action you give one of these bystanders each turn doesn’t count towards your action total.

It should be noted that this trait happens at the beginning of the game specifically, so you will not get the bystanders if Peter the Hunter is used as an ID card Call-In or otherwise not on your force at the beginning of the game. These bystanders are all effective, and the first non-free action given to one not counting is also useful, as is their ability to carry each other.

Ana Kravinoff has Flurry, with 9-Attack and Precision Strike. While the attack value isn’t the best, Flurry should help at least one attack hit. There is also the Power Girl ID card inspiration to give her +2 to Attack for close combat.

Sasha Kravinoff has Stealth and Ranged Combat Expert, with 10-Attack and 1-Damage. Not the absolute best stats, but a 0 point pog being able to deal out 3 damage that doesn’t count against your total is good, especially with Stealth for protection.

Alyosha Kravinoff has Sidestep with 6-Movement, 9-Attack, and 0-Damage with Outwit. While he can’t attack on his own, the new rules for Outwit will make him very relevant. There are ID card inspirations that can help him deal damage, such as giving him Blades/Claws/Fangs via Swordsman or Katana.

Vladamir Kravinoff has Charge with 9-Movement, and 9-Attack with Blades/Claws/Fangs. The aforementioned Power Girl and Swordsman/Katana ID cards will be useful to him as well, with the latter being able to give him Flurry.

FROM AN ALTERNATE EARTH: If this character is on your sideline, you may give a free action to a friendly character named Spider-Man or Kraven the Hunter that’s equal or more points. Replace that character with this character on the same click number.

Competitively speaking, this trait will not do very much. It is unlikely that you will be playing a Spider-Man to begin with, and the only character named Kraven the Hunter is retired. I would also not want Peter the Hunter to begin the game on the sideline, as getting the bystanders is so important.

KILLED MY GREATEST ENEMIES: When Peter the Hunter KO’s an opposing character of 50 or more points, after actions resolve heal him to click #1 and place a Trophy token on this card. When Peter the Hunter would be KO’d, you may instead remove a Trophy token and turn him to his last non-KO click.

This ability to keep Peter the Hunter alive can be useful, although his combat values on that last click aren’t great. This ability should be combined with a character with Support to get him back to his good clicks. The 50 points or above condition is especially good these days, as more and more characters are made in that point range.

Overall, Peter the Hunter has good combat values, provides 4 useful bystanders at the beginning of the game to do stuff or help turn the Teleporter, and despite being so relatively inexpensive, can be hard to kill. His being less than a third of your team will allow him to be either built around or help add to an already good team.

90 WI039 Peter the Hunter
50 WI037 Gertrude Yorkes & Old Lace
70 WF046 Klarion the Witch-Boy
50 WKDP16-003 Ace the Bathound
5 WFR100 Justice League Teleporter
-5 WFWFID-004 Green Arrow
-5 NFAOSNFID-007 S.H.I.E.L.D. Level 7
-5 NFAOSNFID-012 Moon Knight
-5 WKMVID-009 Spider-Man
-5 WFWFID-001 Superman
-5 WKDCID-002 Plastic Man
5 DP17-008 Boxing Ring

The point of this Animal theme team is to spam bystander tokens to get the Teleporter dial clicking. All the inspirations of the attached IDs will help your bystanders once you hit power 2 on the resource, such as Moon Knight giving all of your force either Empower or Enhancement. Plastic Man’s inspiration will help your bystanders harass your opponents with Plasticity and Shape Change. Ace the Bathound will serve all your support power needs, including using Support on Gertrude Yorkes when she’s taken some damage from her trait that keeps the bystander alive. The Telporter should be spinning fast with the 4 bystanders from Peter, Old Lace taking damage but staying alive, as well as from Peter the Hunter taking damage but hopefully staying alive.

That’s all for this week. I’ve hope you’ve enjoyed my analysis of Peter the Hunter. Always remember that when playing a well known competitive piece, or a fringe figure, practice makes your team better.
