The Learning Curve – Opportunity Cost – Paris Gordon

Hey Apex Insiders, today I’m going to talk about Opportunity Cost. This is actually a term I got from the HeroClix Wikipedia page where it’s listed as a required skill. It’s defined as “the loss of potential gain from other alternatives when one alternative is chosen.” It’s primarily an economics term, but can certainly apply to HeroClix; I’m not going to adhere strictly to this definition, but it’s a good concept to have. Put more simply: when you make choice A, what did you lose by not making choice B? Or, comparing the risk/reward analyses of multiple different choices. This seems fairly simple, but with the risks associated with those choices factored in, and the sheer number of choices you have in a given game of HeroClix, it becomes pretty complicated. Hopefully this article will help you when it comes to making in-game decisions in the future!
