The last stop in the Majestix Open Series hit Roseburg, Oregon, where 24 players were vying for the last free entry/bye into the Majestix Regional in April. Competition was fierce as the players all brought their “A” game. It was apparent from the get-go that Krang and Jakeem Thunder were going to be the flavor of the day as they dominated the top tables all day. Brothers Prob and Strike Force 5 duked it out, with ALL 4 members who made the trip were in the Top 8. However, the Finals saw the Portland crew going head-to-head as David Ellis’s Magneto/Jakeem eked out a win against Bryan Dormaier’s Krang build. Congratulations to David Ellis on his first Super Qualifier win!
Analysis:
1st Place – David Ellis
All 8 teams in the Top 8 were either Jakeem (5) or Krang (3). Tent-poles are dominating the metagame right now. There were many other unique builds in the event as Shifting Focus Superman made an appearance as well as Spider-Knight defense teams and other X-Men teams, but as always, the cream rises to the top. With the Regional just about a week away, it will be interesting to see if anyone has broken through on the Deadpool front.
