Team List – Faust Family (Bronze Age Limited) – Anthony Barragan

by Anthony Barragan

What’s up my fellow Apex Insiders? Today I’ll be bringing you a team that came to fruition by realizing just how good the WW80 Faust can be. Now how about we jump into the action:

(Click to Buy!)

(Mystical Theme +5)
WW80055 Felix Faust 60 pts
SMWW056 Faust 90 pts
TMNT3023 Shredder Clone + Ocean Resurrection 85 pts
WKMP18G001 Tri-Sentinel 30pts
XDPSG018 Wendigo 15 pts
WKMP19S105 Nightbringer (Mandarin Ring) 5pts
WKMP19S101 Remaker (Mandarin Ring) 5pts
IIMS008 Black Light 8pts
Maps: Castle Hideout, Lombard Street, Gotham City Downtown

Everyone on this team has a similar goal. Felix Faust wants to deny the use of support powers while enabling his son to KO people and take one of their powers. Clone Shredder’s purpose is to tie people up. Wendigo is reminiscent of Jet Li’s character in the movie Unleashed. Tri-Sentinel is just there to retaliate on anyone that hurts the team.

Felix Faust

This guy alone is great for his points, as he brings high mobility through his special Speed power which gives him Stealth and FREE: place him in any square up to 4 squares from his current square. His special Damage power lets him use Outwit, Prob, and Enhancement. Now combine all this with his 8-Range, Pen/Blast, and his trait which says whenever an opposing character within Range uses Outwit, Prob, or Perplex you roll a d6. On a result of a 4 or 5 that use of said power is ignored, but on a 6 the person using the power takes 1-penetrating damage.

Faust

The son of Felix Faust may not be as annoying as his father but packs a bit more of a punch. He has a similar speed power to his father that lets him port to a square within 4 of his current square with the caveat that he has to be in hindering terrain when he uses Sidestep and he has to be placed into a square of hindering before continuing the Sidestep. So it’s activate Sidestep in hindering, place in hindering, then actually move with Sidestep thus moving 6 squares for free. On his first 2 clicks he has a special Damage power that lets him roll 3 dice when making an attack and you choose 1 to ignore which helps make up for his 10-Attack. If he’s unfortunate enough to get hit in his mid-dial he can take a power action to deal an adjacent opposing character 1-penetrating damage and heal himself 1 click. He also has a trait that activates when he KO’s an opposing character letting him gain ANY one standard power on that character’s CARD and he can use that power until he chooses again. A recent errata by Wizkids that says to treat obscuring terrain as hindering terrain helps this guy a lot.

Shredder Clone + Ocean Resurrection

A classic dude many have felt the wrath of. Do I really need to explain why he’s on the team?

Tri-Sentinel

A Mystical keyword retaliator who is tried and true.

Wendigo

This guy is one of my favorite clix of all time and I constantly find myself adding him to teams when I have the spare 15 points. His offensive capabilities make him, in my opinion, the best 15 points in the game.

Mandarin Rings

Nightbringer and Remaker are for Faust. In the event that map is lost, Nightbringer keeps Faust mobile with the free Smoke Cloud and it gives him Stealth. Remaker gives Faust Shapechange and Poison which, when combined with the Nightbringer Ring can be a deadly combo. Blacklight is for Felix Faust so he can put Smoke Cloud down for his son to port into. Blacklight also gives the bearer and adjacent friendlies in its Smoke Cloud Stealth. So, Wendigo with Stealth anyone?

Maps

Castle Hideout was chosen because there’s lots of hindering but also a good amount of cover. Gotham City Downtown was chosen for the same reasons previously mentioned but also because there’s more elevated terrain for the Fausts to take advantage of. The main map to go to is Lombard Street because it has everything you could want for this team, large portions of hindering terrain, 3 levels of elevation, and some blocking terrain scattered about for
Tri-Sentinel.

Final thoughts

This team is really fun to play and has a good amount of synergy. The only glaring flaw with the team is that a “set up” period is needed for the Fausts to get their rings, but that’s why you have the likes of Clone Shredder and Wendigo to run interference. Also if you don’t like having 2 points left you can pay for Faust to use the Shadowpact ATA, which costs 1-point and lets him ignore the Mystics team ability. Until next time stay golden.
