Agent 13Hello, we are here again to bring another awesome character! The Green Battery of the Limited format! The one who will stomp opposing Gluttony, Absorbing Man and others characters with heavy defense powers!  Agent 13!

– Sculpture: I don’t know exactly why, but usually movie set figures have a better paint job than others. It’s a figure with a simple sculpture but it’s a good one. Not the best in the game but really above average.

– Point Cost: Only 55 points, a low point cost, so don’t expect a character a with high damage output, but for only 55 points it does a lot! This awesome spy can cripple an entire team just entering he battlefield. Plenty of big characters fear her, like Zombie Super Skrull, Gluttony, Kyle Rayner, Engineer, and even the new vehicles!

– Keywords: She has only two keywords, but they are enough for her to make really strong teams! The S.H.I.E.L.D. keyword always appears making Themed Teams with Nick “balls of” Fury, and the spy keyword gives so many options to her that it’s near ridiculous how strong you can make themed teams with her.  From Fantomex to Copycat to Nick Fury, she can fit into a variety of Themed Teams!

– Team Ability: She has a really good Team Ability in S.H.I.E.L.D.! It gives every adjacent friendly character +1 Range value and you can give her a power action and choose an adjacent friendly character. The chosen character modifies its Damage value by +1 while adjacent to this character and making ranged combat attacks this turn!

– Values: So, since this isn’t an attacker by any stretch of the imagination, you will not see good values here.  Low Attack value that starts on 9 and ends with 8 on the last click, 2-Damage on the opening click but on the 4th click it becomes 1. The best value she has is her 8-Movement and a 17-Defense, sadly this defense lasts only for one click, then it drops to 16, then 15. How does a character with such bad values be so good? If you compare her opening click with, say Colleen Wing from the Deadpool set, you will see an enormous difference between them, but keep in mind that you are comparing a utility character with secondary attacker, even though they are similar in points.

– Powers: Here the character starts to show why she is so good! The first click starts with Plasticity, Combat Reflexes and Shapechange. So, let her get close to your opponents, Plasticity will hold them, and Combat Reflexes + Shapechange will offer protection to her. The second click has the special attack power called Let Your Guard Down. This awesome power says that adjacent opposing characters can’t use defense powers! Remember that there’s a ruling that says that this effect only affects power showing on the defense slot! Powers that come from resources\entities\trait aren’t affected by this. But this is enough to make Kyle Rayner not use his stop-click, or Gluttony just getting a one-hit-ko! After some damage she changes switches from Plasticity to Sidestep and Shapechange changes to Perplex. At this point she is really vulnerable because she loses her Combat Reflexes. So if you don’t want to let her get KO’ed you need to be careful with her positioning.

– Trait: Do you remember that I called her the Green Battery of the Limited format? It’s because of her trait! Espionage: Send to Spy says that if Agent 13 is part of a themed team, during your first turn, you choose a keyword. Each opposing character with that keyword can’t be given more than one free action per turn. This is why she is usually used in Themed Teams. This effect in the Limited format it’s really strong, more than half of the characters in the format use some free action abuse. With this you can slow down plenty of key characters of the meta, like Zombie-Super Skrull, the new vehicles, Engineer, even General Lane, because If they use Outwit they can’t use any other free action for the turn!

– Allies: Like I said before, she loves a Themed Team, using the spy keyword her main allies are Nick Fury, Captain Marvel Prime, Copycat, Blind Al, Atomica and Fantomex! The SHIELD keyword has less options, but they are still very solid. You will find Nick Fury ( again), Peggy Carter Prime, Fitz, Space Rig and even She-Hulk!

– Enemies: Her biggest enemy is any character that doesn’t need to abuse free actions, and any character that can just hit her hard enough (maybe with Battle Fury or a Pulse Wave) to lose her special power. She doesn’t have an exactly character that counters her, but usually her biggest enemy is bad positioning! Since she is really fragile you need to be careful where you place her.

– Final Consideration:  An awesome character that without a doubt should see a lot of play, and Themed Teams are very strong in the Limited format. Agent 13 and all the new SHIELD characters from NFAOS are just great, and synergize with her nicely. You just need to take care with her positioning and not let her get hit hard, and get her in a position to get next to an opposing character to negate the defensive power.

This was another edition of Clix O’ the Week! I really hope you enjoyed the article. Let me know what you think in the comments and what character you want to see here next week in the current format!
