Clix O’ the Week – Green Light – Tiago Pinto Da Luz

Majestix - Clix O The Week 2

Tiago Pinta Da Luz by Tiago Pinto da Luz

Hello everyone! For mother Russia! Or not so much, the infiltrated American pilot in the USSR makes his appearance in lots of recent tournaments! Is time for Green Light!

1 – Sculpture: Like most of the chases, the sculpture is amazing, the symbol in the base is really good and the flying effect with the power of the ring is really well made.

2 – Point Cost: For only 90 points this guy can be a really good offensive figure. The things he has are starting to become rare in figures of this point cost, like Indomitable and Psychic Blast. So for less than 1/3 of your build you get an attacker that will help your low point characters, deal a good amount of damage and has good mobility! Add all that to a Stop click and a special Barrier that can lock the main attacker of your opponent without problems and you have a very good figure that is worth the cost and can be really good.

3 – Keywords: Three keywords, one generic and two non-generic. The first is Green Lantern Corps, the retirement of War of Light left this keyword with only 7 characters left, so you will really lack options for a strong and versatile team if you try to go themed with it. The Red Son is his second keyword; since this one only appears in the chases of the Superman and Wonder Woman set, you will see only 6 options, so again, you’re run into a problem when opting for a themed team. Now you only have left the generic keyword, Soldier! Here you can find really strong characters to fight at your side, starting with the infamous Nick Fury 056 (most of the characters in the NFAoS set have the Soldier keyword), and you can also find some low cost options like Peggy Carter there. Ultron Phalanx is another strong character with the Soldier keyword that can give a huge help to your team for a cheap cost. The same happens with the FF Original Avengers Captain America, the free move can help a lot in any game. If you go to the DC comics Soldiers, we can start with the Joker’s Wild set looking at The Atom and the Super Rare Johnny Thunder, both strong and good characters to put in any team. On a little older set you will find Element Man, one of the most versatile characters in game and he is difficult to take down because of the amount of defensive powers he has access. In the same set as Green Light you will find General Lane, one of the best pieces in game for a soldier themed team, giving plenty of Outwits to your team, and also has Leadership and Enhancement; he is a huge deal for the low point cost.

4 – Team Ability: Green Light has no Team Ability but has access to the Green Lantern Honor Guard ATA, which gives +1 attack for each other friendly character that attacked the same target this turn while using this team ability. If we had more Green Lantern Corps to use this ATA it could work, but today you need to use wild card characters to make a good use of it, and you will be unable to make a themed team with wild card characters and Green Light.

5 – Values: Starting his dial with a 9/10/17/3 and 7-Range Green Light doesn’t have the best values for point cost in the game, his highest momentum will be on click 2 where his attack raise by 1 reaching a 11, after that his values only drop ending in a miserable 4/9/17/2 in his last click, which is the 6th. So you need to take care while using him, because the low defense value, 17 on every click) can turn him in an easy target even for low attack figures like Rockabilities Modok that came from a Devil Dinosaur.

6 – Powers: Even without the greatest values, Green Light has a good combination of powers, starting with an aggressive Running Shot, Psychic Blast, Toughness and Perplex. One of the best combinations to deal damage, his problem is having Toughness, so if you opponent finds a way to fight back, you can be in trouble, because the low defense value combined with a weak defense power can be a problem. On the 3rd click to the 5th all his powers change to Sidestep, Special attack power and Energy shield. The special attack power is amazing to hold a strong character that is giving you trouble. This power allows you to use Barrier, but this Barrier instead of the normal effects, you may choose a single base opposing character within range and line of fire and place a blocking terrain marker in each unoccupied square adjacent to him (yes you can put 8 markers!), until your next turn that character will have Earthbound/Neutralized, so you will be unable to escape even in a outdoor map! At the beginning of your next turn, before removing the markers, give the character an action token if it’s adjacent to at least three of these markers. So you can hold a character, since he will have earthbound he will be unable to use indomitable, you will give him and action token, deal pushing damage and do you know what can be better? Green Light has Indomitable, so he can do it again on the next turn without taking pushing damage! On the last click the only power that he has is a special defense one, that is a Stop click, but not the new ones,  so this one can be ignored and only triggers if revealed due taking damage from an opposing character attack. It also gives Green Light Super Senses and when he uses and succeeds you may heal him 1 damage. The Stop click is always good, but the Super Senses is really situational and will be rare to work, maybe if you use a Mr. Mxy to have some better chances.

7– Trait: This two line trait is probably the main reason of using Green Light, this effect is so good and can add a lot to your team. The trait called Empower a Brigade gives friendly characters of 40 points or less Toughness and the Flight ability. There is a big group of characters that can get a huge benefit from this, from the low point JSA characters like the 35pts Flash, that doesn’t have reducers or any improved movement to characters that make pogs like Namor, making the Atlantean Warriors flight characters. This also adds Poison protection, which is really important because these characters usually don’t have many clicks of life to begin with.

8 – Allies: Like I mentioned before, you can find strong allies in the JSA characters from Joker’s Wild, but you will see Green Light paired with Namor, Devil Dinosaur, Ant-Man and others pog-making characters. Giving these pogs flight and protecting them anywhere in the map is a huge effect. And if you’re playing against someone that has a strong character on the map, like Jakeem Thunter, with the right positioning and the combination of Sidestep+Special attack power you can hold him for some turns while your team take the rest of your opponent characters down.

9 – Enemies: Characters with penetrating Poison can be a problem to the Toughness you give to your allies. But if you want a direct threat to Green Light, you just need a character with a strong Pulse Wave to ignore his Stop click, or a vehicle with a character like Spectre on it, since Green Light can Barrier multi-bases characters. You also need to be extra careful with a Krang in a Juston team; he can do a heavy amount of damage and can take Green Light out in a single turn.

10 – Final Consideration: A Character made for our current pog meta! This big group of low point characters we have in the game is perfect for Green Light, even the HAHA joker on the 40 point line can take benefits from him! He will see a good amount of play in the meta for a long time; Wizkids will keep releasing low point characters and the options for Green Light will only grow stronger.
