I’ve always had a place for swarmy teams, but in order for me to satisfy that need, I would have to play higher point, casual games. It was just harder to do in competitive play, where point efficiency reigns supreme. Swarm-type of teams were quick to give up points, and a lot of the time, they just weren’t as efficient as other pieces in the competitive format. So, they have been placed on the back-burner for a while. Until now. With the release of X-Men: the Animated Series set, we saw a slew of new low-cost pieces like Wendigo, Dark Phoenix, Iceman, Storm, and of course, the Sentinels(!). At first glance, these pieces were mainly for the collectors and casual players exclusively. They were sought after (for an uncommon, too!), but you would almost never see them in a competitive format.
