The Learning Curve – Curious Case of Lord Doom vs Maggott – Adam Friedman

Adam Friedman by Adam Friedman

One of the better ideas running around Modern these days is teams abusing the inherent power of Maggott and his autonomous bystanders. With a 5-click dial and Senses the whole way through it can be difficult to out-pace the sheer value the figure provides for 40 points.

There is a lesser-known interaction, however, that can give teams playing Many Faces of Doom figures an unexpected edge. When thinking about ways to protect against bystanders the obvious piece that comes to mind is Lord Doom. The obvious interaction here is of course the case where the Lord Doom team simply has fewer actual figures than the Maggott Team, which will mean Maggott cannot even generate the first worm, let alone do so repeatedly.
