One of the most anticipated events of the year has come and gone, and Jakeem still rules the nest. However, the diversity of the event is what everyone will be talking about. This was the first glimpse into the Modern Age metagame, post-ROC Limited. This event basically kicked off the regular Modern Age season. ROC Director Howard Brock always runs a great event, and this was no different. Tons of prizing and awesome Side Events. In the end, his son, the Prince of the ROC, Easton Brock, defended his home turf by winning the Super Qualifier with everyone’s favorite genie in a pen, Jakeem Thunder (*sigh*).
Analysis:
1st Place – Easton Brock
With the format being so wide open and so large, it was no surprise to see the creativity at it’s finest. There were 8 DIFFERENT archetypes i this Top 8, which means only one Jakeem team. KC Superman was runner-up (!!!), a Shredder team, the concoction that only Wes Summers can come up with (it’s genius, really), PJ Bolin’s patented Robots army, Shifting Focus Superman/CW Iron Man, Doctor Octopus, and finally a D20 Dr. Strange Midnight Sons team. Whew! It will be hard to predict what will be played because as you can see, you can be successful with almost anything. However, Jakeem Thunder’s presence is a safe bet. It is interesting to note that no Quinjets in the Top 8. Is the long-standing reign over for the vehicle?
