Top 16 Single-Elimination Bracket
The first 300pt Modern Age tournament of the ROC season has finished and Easton Brock has taken down his first Super Qualifier win of the year. After numerous Top 4 and Runner-Up finishes throughout this season, the most prolific player in the circuit has finally broken through. In a tough field of 49 players, many were out-of-towners and were vying for the Rocket-City’s second annual Super Qualifier. It was a field mostly dominated by Indigo and Orange Power Batteries, and a plethora of Lvl 7 SHIELD ID Cards meant that Nick Fury would still be everywhere in this format as well.
1st Place – Easton Brock
Analysis:
Since this is a new-ish format, many players opted to play the tried and true teams. We see Super Skrull/Lydea, Koriand’r, Nick Fury, Fantomex and Phantom Girl teams. We also see the usual resources with Indigo and Orange clearly being the favorite, and only 1 Phoenix Force and 1 Power Plant in the Top 16. The main contributions to this format are the new Colossal Retaliation figures. With the cost being so low, we will see a multitude of these figures on teams, getting free attacks when necessary. We also see ID Cards being played in spades. Ultron Drones are seeing an uptick in play due to their usefulness with the ID Cars. Lvl 7 SHIELD ID Card is the clear leader of the pack, but some new DC ID Cards are seeing play, like Batman and Red Tornado. We haven’t really seen new tech (other than the Colossals), but as the season rolls on we should see more and more innovation, especially when the WKO comes around in a couple of weeks.
