The seventh stop on the Majestix Open Series event brought us to Newark, California and Heroes and Dice, the hub of northern California Heroclix. A modest 13 players showed up, but it was made up of mostly locals (only a couple of travelers this time). The field was diverse and much different that other stops, with an emphasis on tent-poles. Chris Rogers took home the win and a spot in the Invitational with his one-many army, Hulk! After a week break, we head to Longmont, Colorado.
Analysis:
1st Place – Chris Rogers
As mentioned, the field was mostly tent-pole teams, with three of the top four being tent-pole (or OMA). We also saw Metallo and Odin the Destroyer in the top tables as well. It looks like Infinity Gauntlet is still a major player in this format, and pairs nicely with this specific version of Hulk, with 2 STOP clicks, Regeneration, and Colossal Stamina to keep him alive and keep up with actions every turn. Pluto is a nice surprise, and nearly pulled out the victory in the Finals. Uni-Mind is still a top tier piece in this format, and Undying is an archetype that is being explored more and more with each event.
