The third stop on the Majestix Open Series event was held at Game Haven in Bountiful, Utah. It was Cinco de Mayo as well as Free Comic Book Day, but still 14 players showed up to try out the new format. There were some unique team builds, but Colin Wilson outlasted the field with his X-Men/Green Lantern Corps team and secures his spot at the Invitational in December. The last event before the Ban List changes is in Arizona next week, which will be the last hurrah for the Book of the Skull (for now, at least).
Analysis:
1st Place – Colin Wilson
The Book of the Skull is still the best resource, putting another in the Top 4, but it’s nice to see another Green Power Battery in the elimination rounds, this time winning it. The Utility Belt is a nice touch on Michael Parris’s Magneto team, while Rebel Brooks’s amazing Invisible Jet team finished second. Note that is is the second non-resource team in the Top 4 in as many events, but it is important to note that both teams utilized a costed actions after being carried, with Rebel’s version really taking it to heart. Arizona will be the last time Mistress Death/Book of the Skull will be legal, can’t wait to see what that event brings!
