The third Regional of the season brought 33 players to Michigan. The field was the usual with a couple of different iterations, and a return of Nick Fury. Apex Insiders writer Easton Brock collects yet another win, against a Top 8 of top players like Marshal Lawing, Chris Stockhaus, Jerome Foster, and Chris Griffin, whom he beat in the Finals. Easton’s turtling strategy outlasted the field for his first Regional win. Congratulations, Easton!
Analysis:
Winner – Easton Brock
Aside from the normal Krang, Jakeem, and Shredder teams, Michael Cupach’s unique 3rd place team is something to behold. A Marauders theme (yes, you read that right!), Michael’s team exploited Riptide’s free Pulse Wave to great effect, playing a total of 7! The innovated team probably took the field by surprise, but couldn’t get past Easton’s wall of constructs. Nick Fury also made a return or sorts, with two teams making the Top 8. Even Easton’s team is somewhat a new take on a Jakeem/Mystical team. Despite the metagame firmly planted, there is still room for creativity.
