The first major ROC event of the season was a success for the new regime. A solid 29 players turned out to play in the Super Qualifier at the Rusty Scabbard, which was the culmination of the ROC-A-Thon the region has been running leading up to the event. It was a return to the ROC Limited format, this being of the 400pt Modern Age variety. Father/Son duo Jay and Jaylen Major met in the Finals with plenty of Doctor Octopus to go around, but it was Jaylen’s build with Uni-Mind that beat the elder Major’s Syndicate team to take home his first… major. Be on the lookout for this young rising star on the circuit!
Analysis:
Winner – Jaylen Major
Just when you thought the Watchlist would change Uni-Mind’s dominance, it didn’t. Uni-Mind still won, but the Limited format so far has shown some innovation (especially in 400pts). Sinister Syndicate placed 1st overall seed with lightning fast attacks and mobility. A couple of high-end Goblin Kings showed up, as well as a couple of nice lists in Wes Summers’s Beta Ray Bill (!) team and the super spicy Gotham City Underworld team by Jared Bridgewater! Let’s see how this format evolves.
