Top 16 Single-Elimination Bracket
Apex Insiders writer and Team Majestix member Kevin Afrooz takes down the Majestix Regional. He defeated fellow teammate Clay Wood in the Finals with a Super Skrull/Copycat/Mxy team. The disruption and sheer power of his team was enough to overwhelm Clay’s hyper-aggressive team of double-Doctor Octopus and Klarion. The field was the arguably the toughest field in a long time. Players from all over made the trip to play in the two-day event. We had representatives from Florida, Washington, Texas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Alabaman, Nevada, and all over California (from NorCal, to CenCal, to SoCal, and the Inland Empire). We had the current World Champion (Paris Gordon), defending Regional Champion (Aaron Cantu), the most prolific ROC player on the circuit (Easton Brock), 2-time Regional Champion (Michael Smith), WKO Champions (Karmell Rafisolyman and Dustin Hall), and countless other top players coming from all over. It was arguably the toughest field (other than the ROC Cup and Worlds), and it showed by the teams everyone was rocking.
High-powered and brutal teams were present in every round and everyone brought their “A” game. It was difficult to get to the Top 16 as we went 6 Rounds of Swiss and a handful of 4-2’s did not make the cut. The Top 16 consisted of 5 Majestix players (and 3 of the Top 4), 2 Curators of Cataclysm players (Houston), 2 Strike Force 5 players (Washington), 2 Team Stratagem players (Alabama/Tennessee), 2 Team Vegas players (Nevada), 1 Team Deathblow player (Fresno), and an LA and Florida player.
