This is a little late, but the results were just made public for this event recently. It is significant because it is the German National Championship, and Steve Boudart is the Champion. It also gives us a glimpse into the metagame of other regions of the world (not just North America!), and this one surely made an impression. Steve did pilot a Quinjet team to a win, more of a variation of Easton Brock’s build, but the field was as diverse as they come. Congratulations to Steve Boudart, the German National Champion.

Analysis:
Even though this is over a month old, the metagame from Europe is a doozy! The innovation is through the roof, with two (yes, two!) TMNT Theme teams, utilizing all 4 Turtles with the Turtle Van. There were two different takes on the team, with both versions using the Common Turtles and the Van as the base. While one used Splinter to solidify the Theme Team (+6 Map Roll), the other used the Pandora’s Box and ID Cards for versatility, with the Box being able to churn out massive amounts of damage in a turn (Flurry or Empower for the Turtles is no joke). This version finished third overall, so it seems legit. A couple of other innovations include Captain Atom Prime paired with Nick Fury for a Soldier Theme, and an Avengers Theme Team featuring two Living Lightnings! Fast Forces Captain Cold was on the 2nd Place team to stop Charge and HSS… which is on 5 of the 8 teams in the Top 8. That’s metagaming at its finest. It remains to be seen if the Turtle teams can really be a force in the format going forward.
