The penultimate stop on the Majestix Open Series event brought us to Fresno in central California. A great location for the West Coast, this event brought the second highest attendance for the series, with 25 worthy players vying for one of last two spots in the Invitational. Many of the top players from all over California made the trip, but in the end it was Steve DiCarlo and his Avengers Quinjet that took home the top spot, and reserved his seat at the Invitational.
Analysis:
1st Place – Steve DiCarlo
Another great metagame, with many different teams, along with some tried and true archetypes. Quinjet is still a mainstay of the format, with the Finals being a Quinjet vs Quinjet matchup, albeit two completely different builds. Tent-poles continue to make their mark, with Goblin King and Uni-Mind in the Top 8. Shredders make an impact, along with Mistress Death. Capture seems to be a good strategy as this is the second time that archetype has made a Top 8 appearance in the format (with different builds, no less!). With many different ways to go about the format, this truly is a team-builder’s paradise.
