The first ever Majestix Open Series Invitational has concluded and we have our first Champion. Steve DiCarlo went through a grueling 12 Rounds before the Top 4 over 3 days against the Series’s best players and has come out on top. 8 of the top players battled it out over 3 days, through 4 different formats to test every ounce of skill and mental fortitude they have. It was some of the best high-level play, and it was a tough field with all the players losing multiple times. In the end, it was Steve’s patented Quinjet taking out Dan’s Uni-Mind/Sinestro Power Battery in the Finals 2-0 to take home the title and a cool $1000. Dan takes home a crisp $400 for his efforts. In the Third Place game, Emilio’s Mystiques beat out Colin’s Green X-Men Corps.

In the Co-Main Event, it was 300pt Modern Age for some nice Convention LEs and the new Majestix Open Series Map! It was a diverse field with Exospex making its debut in the competitive scene. There were a few, and the metagame was as expected, but with more variations. In end, Hobbit (Matthew Trujillo) won with a Merc With a Mouth/Unseen/Penguin/Retaliators concoction, taking out David Colon’s full point Uni-Mind in the Finals.

The inaugural Invitational ran as smoothly as can be expected, with minor technical difficulties running the stream. It was a great turnout for the event overall with over 30 people coming in for the Main, Co-Main and Side Events throughout the weekend. We had many out-of-towners so the event was a success. It will only get bigger and better in 2019!
