The fourth stop on the Majestix Open Series event was held at Samurai Games in Phoenix, Arizona. A few people were scared off by the Book of the Skull being in the format, but 15 players made the tournament. Surprisingly, even with a field full of Mistress Death/Book, only 1 made the Top 4 in Ben Bielecki. The other 3 players had different builds, but Tony Rodriguez finally broke through for his win and spot in the Invitational in December with his Thanosi/Indigo Battery team. Congrats, Tony! It’s off to Santa Clarita next week!
Analysis:
1st Place – Tony Rodriguez
Even with a lot of Book of Death, there were some great team builds, as you can see in the Top 4. Power Batteries are making their way back into the format in a big way, with 3 different types in the Top 4. Championpool/Nighthawk Prime is a great tent-pole in the format it seems, and Lydea Mallor should still see some major play with Power Batteries in the format. With the new Ban List in effect at Santa Clarita next week, players all around are gearing up for the event, with the return of Jakeem and injection of Avengers Infinity in the format, it should be a great event!
