Victor Vitiello Silva wins Brazil’s first ever ROC Super Qualifier tournament!

Brazil had their first Super Qualifier, and the format was 300pt Modern Age Limited. We haven’t seen this one in a few weeks, and the last we saw, it was Super Skrull winning. Well, it looks like Super Skrull isn’t the dominating piece (at least in this tournament), and it was a relatively new team that won, albeit with a blast from the (recent) past. Victor Vitiello Silva brought back and old favorite: Koriand’r. Pairing her with the amazing Doctor Octopus, and round out the team with an Ultron Drone and Ant-Man and you have a recipe for a win. Victor piloted the team through a field of Nick Fury, Super Skrull, as well as Mary Marvel. Congratulations, Victor!

Analysis:

We see more “net teams” in this tournament. The 3rd Place, and 5th-8th Place teams are all lists from other players for the most part. Double Nick Fury/Sparta is the exact team we have seen a few times already. The Super Skrull/Copycat team we have also seen. The Spectre/Nick Fury team and the Mystical Mary/Klarion team are newer types but they were played in recent ROCs. The 300pt format looks like it is set in its ways, but it is nice to see Victor come up and win with something relatively new. With the new format being regular 300pt Modern Age, we should see a new and different format beginning to take shape, starting with this weekend’s Alabama SQ.
