Majestix Open Series Qualifier News Update (Day 2)! – David Colon

by David “Mr. Clixso” Colon

Hey Everyone,

It’s David Colon back at you again with another set of Highlights from Day 2 of the Majestix Qualifiers! Everyday seems to get better and better with match-ups! Without any further delay…

Let’s roll those highlights. We start off the morning with:

Pod G: PJ Bolin vs. Alan Mason

Another Batman Prime Highlight! Alan Mason turned Batman Prime into a giant to Mind Control the field. It does get a bit hard since there is dice manipulators on PJ side. PJ manages to evade it, comes in with Mr. Mxy to take down Batman Prime. Alan fires back but a huge miss by Hulk, now Black Glove Demon does his special with Lex Luthor’s cake special. CCCOMBO! Hulk and Korath both taken down as PJ Bolin takes the victory.

PJ Bolin 165  Alan Mason 30

Pod F: Lucas Van Holland vs. Paris Gordon

Paris’s Mr. Mxy uses the special Pulse Wave, which included Batman. Missed Batman Prime, gets everyone else but has no real effect on anyone. Surtur then pings everyone Lucas’ HaHa Joker then takes down the Tri-Sentinel and Batman Masterminds damage onto both Penguins. Batman and HaHa Joker then ping off the Jet.

Lucas van Holland defeats Paris Gordon 299-85

Pod K: Dan Powell vs. Michael Bratcher

Wasn’t able to see this in the entirety. Uni-Mind doing what Uni-Mind does. Black Vulcan comes in and Poisons away. Uni-Mind and friends take down the Shredders. Map choice was key.

Dan Powell defeats Micheal Bratcher 250-55

Pod E: Shane Ascheri vs Paul Cote

Paul and Shane both had the Vulture prime. *Editor Note: Stone Cold Outwitted Vulture’s Charge in an effort to prevent Vulture from running amok.  However, Paul had Black Widow with the FREE Smoke Cloud to turn off Stone Cold’s WWE team ability, thus enabling her to Outwit HIS Outwit, giving back Vulture his Charge. Turn 2 was when Paul’s Avengers went for the win, wiping the team clean.

Paul Cote defeats Shane Ascheri 297-3

Pod H: Adam Friedman vs. Julio Montanez

Adam’s first turn sends Surtur all the way across the board, with the help of Uatu, to ping Julio’s team with 1 penetrating damage. Then, Black Glove Demon does his CCCOOMMBO! That sealed Julio’s fate.

Adam Friedman defeats Julio Montanez 300-92

Pod D: Bryan Dormaier vs. Anthony Barragan

Bryan comes all the way across the map and tees off on Anthony’s team. Red Leader rolls Senses but the second attack knocks it out. Bryan swarmed Anthony’s team until Lex/Joker couldn’t take it anymore. Bryan has such a unique team.

Bryan Dormaier defeats Anthony Barragan 298-25

Pod G: DJ Riggan vs. Alan Mason

I didn’t see all of this game, but DJ’s Penguin blew up the wall near Batman Prime and retaliated with Groot. Batman Masterminded to Proteus. DJ was making a pPnguin every turn, pinging Hulk, leaving his pieces protected from Batman Prime. Wonder Twins did all they could with Barriers but DJ pulled out the victory.

DJ Riggan defeats Alan Mason 250-50

Pod J: George Massu vs. David Creighton

This match was such an action-packed match, with a lot of thinking. George’s Punisher War Machine ran left and right pinging out all of the Wendigo swarms and Dr. Fates. The Terrain was key in this game, as the Colossal could not go through an opening they needed to take down War Machine.

George Massu defeats David Creighton 273-105

Pod D: Bryan Dormaier vs Michael Swank

Michael makes a great move with Dark Phoenix in the middle of elevation. It made the match a bit of a stand still, but The Atom and Micron take down the Dark Phoenix. Batman Prime follows up and takes down Groot and the Walking Woods. Bryan comes back with a Mangog one-shot on Dr. Fate and Batman Prime. Then Shatterstar with Cap Kirk comes in and starts pinging everyone else. Wow. Mr. Mxy did not want to be KO’d as Micheal was hitting the Super Senses rolls! Finally, Bryan took down Mxy. What a 3-0 showing!

Bryan Dormaier defeats Micheal Swank 300-95

Matches I was unable to watch:

Pod K: Dan Powell defeats Aaron Lloyd 220-30

Pod J: David Creighton defeats Tom Shanabarger 300-88

Pod K: Hunter Mann defeats Aaron Lloyd 300-30

Pod K: Aaron Llyod defeats Micheal Bratcher 65-60

Pod G: DJ Riggan defeats Xander Musto

Pod B: Chip Barnett / Van Van Tassel DOUBLE LOSS

Pod A: Jesse Cote defeats Cory Franklin 115-35

Pod C: Kevin Afrooz vs Nate Ybanez

Once, again we find Kevin Afrooz and his Shredder capping thenight off, this time against Nate Ybanez. This is a Mirror Match! Kevin moved up with the Charged Up pog bringing Mini and Shredder Clone. With their Sidesteps and pings, the Shredders took down Groot, Carnage and the pogs! Such an up and down battle. Man was this a war! There may not have been a huge number of scoring but this was a true “who blinks first?” When Last Round was called, we find ourselves at the “KO a piece and win” scenario. Nate’s Shark Shredder’s Sidestep is Outwitted. Nate TK’s Shark Shredder and Shark goes for the hit (on Overdrive) and misses! Kevin barely squeezes out the win!

Kevin Afrooz defeats Nate Ybanez 30-0
