Majestix Open Series Qualifier News Update (Day 4)! – David Colon

by David “Mr. Clixso” Colon

Hey Everyone,

We have now reached the fourth day of the big Qualifier. The brackets are almost finished. These have been the most entertaining games I have seen since I first started playing. It was a slow start to the day, but it fired up in the afternoon. Let’s get those Day Four Highlights going!

Pod J: Erin Young vs. Tom Shanabarger

The day starts with an important game in Pod J. Tom slowly ticked down the Gamma Bomb, while he was making Penguins. Erin put up Barriers and looks like he is hunkering down. Gamma Bomb goes off and all the walls come down. Magneto and I.S.A.A.C. take a hard hit from it. Once I.S.A.A.C. and Magneto are taken down, Tom swarms Fantomex for the win.

Tom Shanabarger defeats Erin young 297-0

Pod A: Rob Gallagher vs. Justin Herrington

Justin’s could not place his objects due to Mr. Nobody on Rob’s side. Justin’s Vulture is not able to get the Octopus Arms now. Justin moves in and brings out Jason Wyngarde’s pog. He started to take shots at Rob’s team. Last Round is called, Rob goes in and KO’s Vulture with a Walking Wood. Justin is down and needs to gets points. Justin Flurry’s with the Walking Wood KO’ing Peace Machine. Wow! Then he takes a shot with Jason Wyngarde’s pog to KO Prez Rickard, taking the win. What a finish from what was an entertaining game.

Justin Herrington defeats Rob Gallagher 125-95

Pod B: Van Van Tassel vs. Emilio Gutierrez

From what I had heard in this game, Emilio’s Gamma Bomb went off and that’s what won the game for Van.

Van Van Tassel defeats Emilio Gutierrez 5-0

Pod B: Steve DiCarlo vs. Van Van Tassel

Steve’s Avenger’s team raced down to Darkseid to get the action started. Chase Black Widow uses one of her Tradecraft tokens to cancel out Darkseid’s special powers. Chewie comes out from Captain Marvel, Medusa brings out Living Hair, and Black Widow pops out Avenger’s recruit. All of Steve’s pog’s swarm on Darkseid and finally take him down. What a turn. Van Van Tassel with his Lockjaw left concedes the game.

Steve DiCarlo defeats Van Van Tassel 300-0

Pod E: Shane Ascheri vs. Craig Landers

I only saw the last part of this match. Shane’s Vulture and Steve Austin swarm on Daredevil and Deadman. It was too much for Craig’s team to survive and is finally defeated.

Shane Ascheri defeats Craig Landers 296-0

The match I was unable to watch:

Pod A: Cory Franklin defeats Rob Gallagher 60-50

Pod H: Easton Brock vs. Brian Estes

Easton positions his team to make it a bit tougher on Hawkeye since Easton knows what is about to happen next turn. Brian makes Hawkeye a giant and Hawkeye comes in for the attacks. He takes out all of Easton’s colossals and pogs. Easton goes for the attack with Korath and the Atom on Giant-Girl. Easton ultimately concedes the match. Very fast game.

Brian Estes defeats Easton Brock 300-10

Pod C: Jose Barragan vs. Nate Ybanez

Nate uses Charged Up and brings the Shredders across the map. The true MVP in this game was Jose Barragan’s Brainiac! Brainiac Incapacitated and pinged Nate’s team throughout this match. Anytime Nate was able to hit his attack roll, Jose had multiple people to re-roll the attack. This was an uphill battle for Nate’s Shredder team. Finally, Jose takes down Mini Shredder (*Editor’s Note: Mini Shredder does not turn into Shark Shredder, Nate) and pops Shredder Clone. Then Last Round was called, but Nate calls the match. Double Astronomer and map choice were key in Jose’s victory against the Shredders. Not to mention, Chase Brainiac.

Jose Barragan defeats Nate Ybanez

That officially wraps up day four and it was very entertaining. We are now heading into the home stretch of the Round Robins and this is shaping up to be a race to the finish. We might not have had a lot of matches during day four, but it was the quality of each match that was important. Everyone today played their hearts out. As always: Remember, if you’re going to roll, you always roll a Critical Hit!. Thank you.
